Description
Clone COL-1 has a high affinity to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and shows no detectable reactivity to biliary glycoprotein (BPG), nonspecific cross-reacting antigen (NCA) or human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. This antibody to CEA is useful in detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA+) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA+). CEA is not found in benign glands, stroma or malignant prostatic cells. This antibody shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues.

Specificity
Species Reactivity: Human. Does not react with rat. Other species not tested. Molecular Weight: .180 kDa Cellular Location: Cytoplasmic and lumenal membrane.Positive Control: LS174T cells, colon carcinoma.

Application Notes
Immunofluorescence Immunoprecipitation: Native and denatured. Use antibody at 2 µg/mg protein lysate in conjunction with Protein A. Western blot: Use antibody at 1-2 µg/mL for 2 hours at room temperature. Immunohistochemistry: Formalin/paraffin, use at a 1:1,000 dilution for 30 minutes at room temperature. Staining of formalin-fixed tissue REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling for 20 minutes at room temperature. The optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by the researcher.
