Additional Information

Alternative name MAP-2
Immunogen Bovine brain microtubule associated protein 2.
Isotype IgG1  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone AP18
Description The expression of Microtubule-Associated Protein 2 (MAP2) exists in two high molecular weight forms (2a & 2b) and a low molecular weight form. The expression of MAP2 is developmentally regulated and its multiple forms arise by alternative splicing of a single gene.
Specificity Clone AP18 is specific to the phosphorylated form of MAP2a,b,c and shows no cross-reactivity with other MAPs, tau or tubulin. Clone AP18 reacts with dendrites and cell bodies of neurons. It is useful in studies of neuron structure in normal and malignant brain tissue and in Alzheimer's. Species Reactivity: Human, bovine, rat, Xenopus and quail. Others not tested. Molecular Weight: .~280 kDa doublet and a 70 kDa singlet Cellular Location: Cytoplasmic.Positive Control: IMR-5 or T98G human glioblastoma cells or brain.

Application Details

Application Notes Immunofluorescence Immunohistochemistry: (Formalin / paraffin) Use at 1-2 µg/mL for 30 min at RT. [Staining of formalin-fixed tissues REQUIRES boiling tissue sections in 10 mM citrate buffer, pH 6.0, for 10-20 minutes followed by cooling at RT for 20 minutes.] Western blot: Use at 1-2 µg/mL for 2 hrs. at RT. The optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by the researcher.
Buffer 100 µg of monoclonal antibody at 200 µg/mL, purified from ascites fluid by Protein G chromatography and prepared in 10 mM PBS, pH 7.4, with protein stabilizer and 0.09% sodium azide.
Storage Store at 4 °C.
Research Area Cytoskeleton
Restrictions For Research Use only
