Description
TCF-3 and TCF-4 are members of the TCF/LEF (T cell factor / lymphoid enhancer factor) family of transcription factors. Members of this family along with beta catenin, are involved in mediating Wnt signaling by transactivating downstream genes. TCF-4 generates transcriptionally active complexes with beta catenin in colon carcinoma cells. Expression of TCF-4 is highest in the CNS and intestinal epithelium where Wnt signaling also plays an essential role in development. Aberrant TCF-4 transcription activity has been implicated in carcinogenesis of intestinal and mammary epithelia. TCF-3 appears to be expressed exclusively of TCF-4 in the hair follicles, stomach epithelium and keratinocytes of the skin.

Specificity
Monoclonal antibody against TCF-3 and TCF-4. Species Reactivity: Mouse and human. Others not tested.
Application Notes
Western blot: Detects TCF-4 at 1-4 µg/mL. Detects a 60 kDa band in Cos-1 cells transfected with human TCF-3. Immunohistochemistry: paraffin embedded tissue section staining. Gel supershift assays The optimal dilution for a specific application should be determined by the researcher.
