Alternative Name FOXP2 (FOXP2 Antibody Abstract)
Background This gene encodes an evolutionarily conserved transcription factor expressed in fetaland adult brain. This transcription factor is a member of the forkhead/winged-helix(FOX) family of transcription factors, and contains a FOX DNA-binding domain and alarge polyglutamine tract. Members of the FOX family of transcription factors areregulators of embryogenesis. The product of this gene is thought to be required forproper development of speech and language regions of the brain during embryogenesis.Although a point mutation in this gene has been associated with the KE pedigreesegregating developmental verbal dyspraxia, no association between mutations in thisgene and another speech disorder, autism, has been found. Four alternative transcriptsencoding three different isoforms have been identified. Alternate Names: anti-FOXP2 antibody, anti-forkhead box P2antibody, anti-CAGH44 antibody,anti-DKFZp686H1726 antibody, anti-SPCH1 antibody, anti-TNRC10antibody, anti-CAGrepeat protein 44 antibody, anti-forkhead/winged-helix transcription factor antibody,anti-speech and language disorder 1 antibody, anti-trinucleotide repeat containing 10antibody.
Gene Symbol: FOXP2
Gene ID 93986, 500037
NCBI Accession NP_683696, NP_055306, NP_683697, NP_683698
Research Area Chromatin and Nuclear Signaling, Transcription Factors
Pathways
Application Notes Approx 85kDa band observed in Human Brain (Cerebellum and Frontal Cortex) lysates and in Rat Brain lysates. An additional band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 28-30kDa. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunising peptide. Use in Immunocytochemistry was reported in the scientific literature (PMID: 22115757). Use in IHC-frozen sections was reported in the scientific literature (PMID: 23821603).
Recommended dilutions: Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence 1:10-1:2000, Immunohistochemistry 1:10-1:2000, Immunohistochemistry-Frozen, Immunohistochemistry-Paraffin 1:10-1:2000, Peptide ELISA detection limit 1:64000, Western Blot 1:100-1:2000
Restrictions For Research Use only
Concentration 0.5 mg/mL
Buffer Tris-saline [ pH 7.3] with 0.5 % BSA, Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze-thaw cycles
Storage -20 °C
Storage Comment -20 °C.
