| Description | Glypican-4, previously known as K-glypican, is a GPI-linked cell surface heparan sulfateproteoglycan of the glypican gene family, that comprises 6 members at present. Itsfunction is only partially understood at present. However, glypican-4 seems to be involvedin the control of cell growth and diffe-rentiation, especially in the development of thecentral nervous system and the kidney. Furthermore, glypican-4 is expressed byhematopoetic stem cells and bone marrow stromal cells. |
| Specificity | Specific for a core protein epitope (aa. 220-233) of Glypican-4. Although the antiserum was prepared against a peptide from human Glypican-4, due to thehighly conserved structure and sequence of Glypican-4, it might react also with glypican-4from other species, like Mouse. Species: Human. Others not tested. |
