Immunogen Rat cytochrome c
Blocking Peptide Blocking peptide for this product available: ABIN412697
Isotype IgG
Specificity The cytochrome c antibody detects the 12 kDa cytochrome c from rat samples.
Purification Affinity purified
Alternative Name Cytochrome C (CYCS Antibody Abstract)
Background Cytochrome c (m.w. 12,500) is an electron transport protein from mitochondria. It is released from mitochondria to cytoplasm during the early stages of apoptosis, prior to caspase activation, DNA fragmentation, and loss of membrane potential. The cytoplasmic cytochrome c is associated with Apaf-1 and caspase-9 to activate caspase-3 and other caspases.
Synonyms: CYCS, CYC
Gene ID 6978725
NCBI Accession NP_036971
Research Area Apoptosis/Necrosis, Metabolism
Pathways Apoptosis, Caspase Cascade in Apoptosis
Application Notes Western blotting (0.5-4 μg/mL).
Rat kidney lysate can be used as a positive control.
However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually.
