Alternative Name IL-18 (IL18 Antibody Abstract)
Background Interleukin-18 (IL-18), an 18 kDa cytokine, is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 157 amino acids. IL-18 was previously known as interferon-g inducing factor (IGIF). This pleiotropic cytokine is produced by monocyte/macrophage cells. Like IL-12, IL-18 plays an important role in cell-mediated immune responses.
Synonyms: IL-18, IL18, IL 18, Interluekin-18, Interluekin 18, interluekin
Gene ID 3606
Research Area Cytokines, Immunology, Virology, Inflammation, Cancer
Pathways Cellular Response to Molecule of Bacterial Origin
Application Notes Western blot analysis (0.5-4 μg/mL). However, the optimal conditions should be determined individually. Recombinant human IL-18 can be used as a positive control (Cat.# 4179-25).
