Description
|
PGR acts to prepare the uterus for implantation of the fertilized ovum, to maintainpregnancy, and to promote development of the mammary glands. Progesterone receptor, amember of the steroid receptor superfamily, mediates the physiologic effects ofprogesterone.

Specificity
|
The antibody Pg. 53 reacts with progesterone (PGR), a steroid hormone secreted by thecorpus luteum of the ovary and by the placenta. PGR plays a central role in the maintenance of pregnancy. Species: Human. Others not tested.
