Background: Keratinocyte Growth Factor (KGF), also known as Fibroblast Growth Factor 7 (FGF-7), is a member of fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family. Although FGF-7 has heparin binding activity similar to FGF-1, its mitogenic activity is predominantly exhibited in keratinocytes. It is not effective to fibroblasts and endothelial cells.
