THDOC is a metabolite of desoxycoritcosterone (DOC) and progesteroneand DOC is a steroid in the synthesis pathway to aldosterone. THDOC isproduced by the adrenal in parallel with cortisol at stress and is regulated by ACTH. THDOC is a potent positive modulator of the GABA A receptor. THDOCpasses the blood-brain barrier and can be found in the brain after stress innanomolar concentrations. |
