| Description | Hirudin (P01050) is a highly effective and very specific anticoagulant whichspecifically inhibits formation of fibrin and activation of factors V, VIII and XIII, byforming irreversible, noncovalent 1:1 complexes with alpha-thrombin. Hirudin is a65 amino acid polypeptide, 7 kDa protein, naturally originating from the medicalleech Hirudo medicinalis. It is a very potent thrombin inhibitor. Antibody binding tohirudin inhibits the interaction with alpha-thrombin. |
