Immunogen Synthetic peptide with sequence C-VGTSAAPVPSDNH, representing the C Terminus of the human protein according to NP_000032.
Isotype IgG
Purification affinity purified
Alternative Name Apolipoprotein E (Apo E)
Background Chylomicron remnants and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) remnants are rapidlyremoved from the circulation by receptor-mediated endocytosis in the liver.Apolipoprotein E, a main apoprotein of the chylomicron, binds to a specific receptor onliver cells and peripheral cells. ApoE is essential for the normal catabolism oftriglyceride-rich lipoprotein constituents. The APOE gene is mapped to chromosome 19in a cluster with APOC1 and APOC2. Defects in apolipoprotein E result in familialdysbetalipoproteinemia, or type III hyperlipoproteinemia (HLP III), in which increasedplasma cholesterol and triglycerides are the consequence of impaired clearance ofchylomicron and VLDL remnants. Alternate Names: anti-APOE antibody, anti-AD2 antibody, anti-MGC1571 antibody, anti-apoproteinantibody, anti-apolipoprotein E antibody, anti-apolipoprotein E3 antibody, anti-Alzheimerdisease 2 (APOE*E4-associated antibody, anti-late onset antibody.

Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
