Immunogen Synthetic peptide with sequence KRLVEDILSSCKV, representing the C-Terminus of the protein (residues 639-651) according to NP_05560
Isotype IgG
Cross-Reactivity (Details) Expected cross reactivity from sequence similarity: Mouse, Dog, Cow.
Purification affinity purified
Alternative Name MELK
Background MELK is a member of AMPK family, which has several consensus glycosylation sites.Glycosylations are known to affect migration of proteins on a SDS-PAGE [Hames, B.Dand Rickwood, D, eds. Gel electrophoresis of proteins: a practical approach. OxfordUniversity Press]. Further the activity of this antibody was confirmed againstrecombinant, GST fused MELK protein by Western blotting. Alternate Names: anti-Likely ortholog of maternal embryonic leucine zipper kinase antibody, anti-Maternalembryonic leucine zipper kinase antibody.
Gene Symbol: MELK
Gene ID 9833
NCBI Accession NP_05560
Research Area Embryogenesis, Embryonic stem cells, Hormones, Receptors
Application Notes Experiments gave bands at approx 75kDa and 150kDa in human testis lysates and in cell lines HeLa and Jurkat after 0.1ug/ml antibody staining. The150kDa band is explained by glycosylation of this member of the AMPK family. This protein has a calculated MW of 74.6kDa according to NP_055606.1.
Recommended dilutions: Peptide ELISA detection limit 1:32000, Western Blot 0.1 µg/mL
Restrictions For Research Use only
Concentration 0.5 mg/mL
Buffer Tris saline containing [pH 7.3] with 0.5 % BSA, Sodium Azide
Preservative Sodium azide
Precaution of Use WARNING: Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs, wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled, contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze-thaw cycles
Storage -20 °C
Storage Comment -20 °C.
