|Description||The tachykinins belong to an evolutionary conserved family of peptide neurotransmittersthat share the c-terminal sequence Phe-X-Gly-Leu-Met-NH2 and have an establishedrole in neurotransmission. The mammalian tachykinins include substance P, neurokininA (NKA) and neurokinin B (NKB) which exert their effects by binding to specificreceptors. Tachykinin peptides are important in the mediation of many physiologicaland pathological processes including inflammation, pain, migraine headache and allergyinduced asthma.Three tachykinin receptor types have been characterized, NK-1, NK-2 and NK-3 whichhave preferential affinities for SP, NKA and NKB respectively. All three receptors sharea high degree of sequence homology, have seven transmembrane spanning domainsand similar signal transduction mechanisms (e.g. G-protein coupled activation ofphospholipase C). |Specificity||ABIN152452 is specific to the NK-3 receptor. Specificity was verified by the localizationof immunohistochemical staining as well as pre-absorption studies with NK-3 peptide.(1). Species Reactivity: ABIN152452 can be used for detection of NK-3 receptor in rat, mouse and guinea pig inbrain, spinal cord and ileum. (1) Customer feedback suggests that human reactivity isnegative. Localization: In immunohistochemical experiments staining of the neuronal cell bodies and fibers isseen and staining is believed to be localized to the plasma membrane.|
