Background PDZK1 is a scaffold protein that connects plasma membrane proteins and regulatorycomponents, regulating their surface expression in epithelial cells apical domains. It maybe involved in the coordination of a diverse range of regulatory processes for iontransport and second messenger cascades. In complex with SLC9A3R1, it may clusterproteins that are functionally dependent in a mutual fashion and modulate the traffickingand the activity of the associated membrane proteins. It may also play a role in thecellular mechanisms associated with multidrug resistance through its interaction withABCC2 and PDZK1IP1. May potentiate the CFTR chloride channel activity. PDZK1functions to connect SCARB1 with the cellular machineries for intracellular cholesteroltransport and/or metabolism and may be involved in the regulation of proximal tubularNa(+)-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransport therefore playing an important role intubule function . Application Notes This PDZK1 antibody is useful for Immunohistochemistry paraffin embedded sections, Immunocytochemistry/Immunofluorescence and Western blot. In Western blot a single band is observed at ~70 kDa. Prior to immunostaining paraffin tissues, antigen retrieval with sodium citrate buffer (pH 6.0) is recommended.
