Immunogen Synthetic peptide: AEDDPYLGRFEQMF conjugated to KLH.
Isotype IgG
Specificity Recognition is at the N-terminus. This antibody will supershift NFkB complexescontaining the human p50 subunit.Control peptide (ABIN269743) will compete only withthe specific reaction of antiserum with Human NFkB p50 (NFKB1). Species Reactivity: Cross-reacts with Human. Not yet tested in other species. Localization: Nuclear, but also found in the cytoplasm in an inactive form complexed to an inhibitor (Ikappa B).
Cross-Reactivity Human
Purification Serum
Alternative Name NF-kB p105 / p50
Background NFkB is a transcription regulator that is activated by various intra and extra cellularstimuli such as cytokines, oxidant free radicals, ultraviolet irradiation, and bacterial orviral products. NFkB is a family of transcription factors that consists of homo andheterodimers of NFkB1/p50 and RelA/p65 subunits, and controls a variety of cellularevents including development and immune responses. All members share a conservedamino terminus domain that includes dimerization, nuclear localization, and DNAbinding regions, and a carboxy terminal transactivation domain. Serines 529 and 536 inthe transactivation domain of RelA/p65 are phosphorylated in response to severalstimuli including phorbol ester, IL1 alpha and TNF alpha as mediated by IkB kinase andp38 MAPK. Serine 529 is located in a negatively charged region (amino acids 422-540)that is phosphorylated in response to phorbol myristate acetate plus calcium ionophoreactivation. Phosphorylation of serines 529 and 536 is critical for RelA/p65 transcriptionalactivity. Activated NFkB translocates into the nucleus and stimulates the expression ofgenes involved in a wide variety of biological functions. Inappropriate activation of NFkBhas been associated with a number of inflammatory diseases while persistent inhibitionof NFkB leads to inappropriate immune cell development or delayed cell growth. Alternate Names: anti-DNA binding factor KBF1 antibody, anti-DNA binding factor KBF1 EBP1 antibody,anti-EBP 1 antibody, anti-EBP1 antibody, anti-MGC54151 antibody, anti-NF kappa Bantibody, anti-NFKB p105 antibody, anti-NFKB p50 antibody, anti-Nuclear factor kappaB DNA binding subunit antibody, anti-Nuclear factor NF kappa B p105 subunit antibody,anti-Nuclear factor NF kappa B p50 subunit antibody, anti-Nuclear factor of kappa lightpolypeptide gene enhancer in B cells 1 antibody.
