Immunogen A synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal of human APG-5L. No immunogenic carrier protein was conjugated to the immunogen. Instead, Adjukine B (see the Adjuvants in biosensis' product list) has been used to orchestrate/boost the immune response.
Cross-Reactivity (Details) Not yet tested in other species.
Purification Whole antisera
Alternative Name APG5L / ATG5
Background Autophagy is an important mechanism for nonselective intracellular breakdown wherebycytosol and organelles are encapsulated in vesicles, which are then engulfed anddigested by lytic vacuoles/lysosomes. ATG5 is required for autophagy. It conjugates toATG12 and associates with isolation membrane to form autophagosomes. Theconjugate detaches from the membrane immediately before or after autophagosomeformation is completed. Conjugation to ATG12 is essential for autophagy, but is notrequired for association with isolation membrane. ATG5 also plays an important role inthe apoptotic process. Its expression is a relatively late event in the apoptotic process, occurring downstream of caspase activity. Alternate Names: anti-Autophagy protein 5 antibody, anti-APG5-like antibody, anti-APG 5 antibody,anti-Apoptosis-specific protein antibody, anti-APG5, biosensis.
