Immunogen Rat recombinant Peroxiredoxin-6.
Specificity This antibody has been shown to be specific for Peroxiredoxin-6 protein. Species Reactivity: Rat, human and mouse, other species have not yet been tested. Localization: Accession Number: PRDX6_RAT , PRDX6_HUMAN , PRDX6_MOUSE.
Cross-Reactivity Human, Mouse (Murine), Rat (Rattus)
Alternative Name Peroxiredoxin-6 (PRDX6)
Background FUNCTION: Involved in redox regulation of the cell. Can reduce H(2)O(2) and shortchain organic, fatty acid, and phospholipid hydroperoxides. May play a role in theregulation of phospholipid turnover as well as in protection against oxidative injury.CATALYTIC ACTIVITY: 2 R'-SH + ROOH = R'-S-S-R' + H2O + ROH. SUBUNIT:Homotetramer. May interact with HTR2A. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm.Lysosome. Note=Also found in lung secretory organelles. MISCELLANEOUS: Theactive site is the redox-active Cys-47 oxidized to Cys-SOH. Cys-SOH may rapidly reactwith a Cys-SH of the other subunit to form an intermolecular disulfide with a concomitanthomodimer formation. The enzyme may be subsequently regenerated by reduction ofthe disulfide by thioredoxin . MISCELLANEOUS: Irreversibly inactivated byoveroxidation of Cys-47 (to Cys-SO(3)H) upon oxidative stress. SIMILARITY: Belongs tothe ahpC/TSA family. Rehydrin subfamily. Alternate Names: anti-Non-selenium glutathione peroxidase antibody, anti-antioxidant protein 2 antibody,anti-1-Cys peroxiredoxin antibody, anti-1-Cys PRX antibody, anti-Acidiccalcium-independent phospholipase A2 antibody, anti-NSGPx antibody,anti-Thiol-specific antioxidant protein. GENE NAME: Prdx6 antibody, anti-Aipla2antibody, anti-Aop2 antibody, anti-Tsa antibody, biosensis. Related Diseases: Antioxidant Enzymes
Gene ID 9588, 11758, 94167
Application Notes IHC, WB, ELISA. This antibody works superbly in Immunohistochemistry on frozen orparaffin embedded tissues. Antigen retrieval has been used in testing but may not benecessary. Typical working dilutions for routine immunohistochemistry are 1: 100 to 1:1000 depending on tissue and detection method. For western blotting a dilution range of1: 1000 to 1: 4000 is recommended. A dilution of 1: 1000 to 1: 4000 is recommended forELISA. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. This antiserumstains the cytoplasm of epithelial cells in the rat and mouse lung and rat and humanbrain astrocytes. It stains human brain astrocytes in Parkinson's and Alzheimer'sdisease and the central core of some Lewy bodies in Parkinson's disease and dementiawith Lewy bodies. Other tissues have not yet been tested.
