Description
|
IKKepsilon is an IKAPPAB-type protein kinase. The IKKepsilon protein contains anN-terminal kinase domain, a central leucine zipper motif, and a C-terminal helix-loop-helixmotif. It is induced in response to proinflammatory cytokines such as tumor necrosis factor(TNF)-alpha, interleukin (IL)-1, and IL-6, and has been shown to associate with and tophosphorylate TRAF-associated NF-kappa-B activator (TANK). Overexpression of wild-typeIKKepsilon has been shown to phosphorylate serine residues of IkappaB-alpha and tosignificantly stimulate NF-kappaB activation.
