Description
Gene: L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA)
Specificity
Specific for conjugated L-dihydroxyphenylalanine (L-DOPA). The following reactivites were determined by competition ELISA: Compound Cross reactivity ratio: L-Dopa-G-BSA1alpha-methyl-L-Dopa-G-BSA1/2200, 3-O-methyl-L-Dopa-G-BSA1/50000, Dopamine-G-BSA>1/50000, Noradrenaline-G-BSA>1/50000, Tyrosine-G-BSA>1/50000. L-Dopa-G-BSA concentration/other conjugated catecholamine concentration at half displacement. L-Dopa is an amino acid that is converted to dopamine in the brain. It is often given to patients in order to alleviate some of the symptoms of Parkinson's disease as, unlike dopamine itself, it can cross the blood-brain barrier.
