Description
Gene: Rotavirus Inner Capsid Protein (VP6, p42)
Specificity
Recognizes an epitope within the common antigen (VP6) of both human and animal group A rotavirus (rotavirus A), the most common causative viral agent of severe gastroenteritis among the young worldwide, resulting from the production of a powerful diarrhea-inducing enterotoxin, within the small intestine. The serotypes of rotavirus A are determined by two gene products: protease-sensitive protein VP4 and glycoprotein VP7, which act as antigens on the surface of the virus, and are used to classify group A rotavirus as either P type or G type, respectively. Can be used as both a capture and conjugated detection antibody in ELISA Predicted Reactivities: Human.
