Swiss-Prot P15917
Immunogen Highly purified Bacillus anthracis lethal factor.
Isotype IgG2a  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone LFA27
Description Gene: LF, Standard Gene Symbol: LF, Family: Toxin, Synonyms: LF
Specificity Recognizes the Lethal Factor of the anthrax toxin. Bacillus anthracis produces a toxin composed of three proteins, the Protective Antigen (PA), the Edema Factor (EF) and the Lethal Factor (LF). The three proteins depend on each other for their toxic effect. Both EF and LF functions intracellularly but are too large to enter the cell through existing channels. The PA is responsible for transporting the EF and LF into cells. The LF acts as an endoprotease, removing the N-terminus of mitogen-activated protein kinase kinases (MAPKK). The kinases are prevented from binding to their substrates, which leads to altered signalling pathways and ultimately to apoptosis. May be used to detect the Lethal Factor of Bacillus anthracis in ELISA assays
