Description
Gene: Rotavirus Inner Capsid Protein (VP6, p42)
Specificity
Recognizes the p42 capsid antigen of rotavirus (the group-specific antigen, VP6). Rotavirus possesses a triple-layered icosahedral protein capsid, VP6 is the intermediate-layer protein and is the most immunogenic of the capsid proteins, although it doesn't induce neutralizing antibodies. Rotavirus is the leading cause of severe diarrhea in young children and is responsible for a large number of deaths, particularly in developing countries, where sufferers will mostly die of dehydration. Specific for mammalian group A rotaviruses (the most common group to infect humans) and Reacts with monkey rotavirus (SA-11), porcine rotavirus (PP) and numerous field strains of human rotaviruses Predicted Reactivities: Cow (Bovine).
