Description
Alix (ALG-2-interacting protein X) is an adaptor protein that was first described for its capacity to bind to thecalcium-binding protein ALG-2, the expression of which seemed necessary for cell death. Predicted molecular weightapproximately 96 kD. Alix contains an N-terminal Bro1 domain and a C-terminal proline-rich domain (PRD). The PRDcontains multiple polyproline motifs, which are potential docking sites for proteins containing SH3 domains, interact with multiple cellular Alix-binding partners that are involved in apoptotic induction, endosomal sorting, andendocytosis. Bro1 domain interacts with CHMP4b also involved in endosomal sorting. Clone 3A9 has been shown tobe useful for western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence staining of the human and mouse Alixprotein.

Application Notes
Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by Western blotting. ForWestern blotting, suggested working dilution(s): Use 5 ug per 5 ml antibodydilution buffer for each mini-gel. For immunofluorescence microscopy: Use adilution range of 1~4 ug/ml. It is recommended that the reagent be titrated foroptimal performance for each application.
