Additional Information

Alternative name CD53
Immunogen Rat T cell blasts
Format Purified
Isotype IgG1, kappa chain  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone OX-44
Description CD53 is a 35-45 kD type III tetraspan membrane protein. It is expressed on all leukocytes and a subset ofthymocytes, but not on platelets, erythrocytes, or non-hematopoietic cells. CD53 has been proposed to be involved insignal transduction and thymopoiesis. It has been shown to interact with a number of proteins, including IL-4, CD20,CD2, CD9, IL-2, VLA-4, and CD4. Cross-linking of CD53 promotes B cell activation. The CD53 antigen is highlyglycosylated and treatment with endoglycosidase F reduces the apparent molecular weight of this protein byapproximately 25kD.

Application Details

Application Notes Each lot of this antibody is quality control tested by immunofluorescentstaining with flow cytometric analysis. For immunofluorescent staining, thesuggested use of this reagent is approx. 0.25 ug per 106 cells in 100 ul volume. It isrecommended that the reagent be titrated for optimal performance for eachapplication. Additional reported applications (for the relevant formats) include: immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescencemicroscopy, immunohistochemical staining for formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections, and induction of celladhesion.
Purification The antibody was purified by affinity chromatography.
Buffer Phosphate-buffered solution, pH 7.2, containing 0.09% sodium azide.
Storage The antibody solution should be stored undiluted at 4 degrees C.
