| Description | C-Jun (also known as protooncogene c-jun) is a member of the b-ZIP transcription factor, jun subfamily, containing aleucine zipper domain. This nuclear protein is ubiquitously expressed and binds the enhancer heptamer motif5',-TGA(C/G)TCA-3', to activate gene expression. c-jun interacts with c-Fos to form a functionaltranscriptional dimer, Jun deletions and translocations have been observed in human malignancies. c-jun isphosphorylated by JNK1, casein kinase II, and DNA-dependent protein kinase, phosphorylation enhancestranscriptional activity. E1A binding protein p300 acetylates and decreases the transcriptional activity of c-jun. Thereare multiple phosphorylation sites (63, 73, 231, 249) on c-jun and one reported acetylation site (271). C-jun has beenreported to interact with CREB binding protein (CBP), CREB, ATF4, c-Fos, STAT1, STAT3 and STAT4, Bcl-3,SMAD3/4 heterodimers, and TCF20. The Poly6065 antibody recognizes mouse and human c-jun and has beenshown to be useful for Western blotting |
