Alternative name CD338 / ABCG2 / BCRP1
Swiss-Prot Q9UNQ0
Immunogen Fusion protein consisting of the E. coli maltose binding protein and a 126 amino acid part ofthe CD338 peptide corresponding to aa 271-396 of BCRP according to Genebank accessionnumber AF103796. HPRD: 04783
Cross-Reactivity Human
Isotype IgG2a  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone BXP-21
Description An ABC transporter. Allows efflux of Hoechst dye, a property that has been used toseparate bone marrow side population cells, which express BCRP/ABCG2. Appears to playa major role in the multidrug resistance phenotype of a specific MCF-7 breast cancer cellline. When overexpressed, the transfected cells become resistant to mitoxantrone, daunorubicin and doxorubicin, display diminished intracellular accumulation ofdaunorubicin, and manifest an ATP-dependent increase in the efflux of rhodamine 123.
Specificity This antibody recognises an internal epitope of CD338, otherwise known as the BreastCancer Resistance Protein (BCRP), a 70kDa transmembrane half transporter involved inmultidrug resistance. This antibody does not cross react with human MDR1, MRP1 or MRP2gene products. Species: Human. Others not tested.
