Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) family ofreceptors. It is expressed on the surface of most cell types, including cells of epithelial andmyeloid lineages, but not on T and B lymphocytes. The protein specifically binds thelymphotoxin membrane form (a complex of lymphotoxin alpha and lymphtoxin beta). Theencoded protein and its ligand play a role in the development and organization oflymphoid tissue and tranformed cells. Activation of the encoded protein can triggerapoptosis.
Specificity
This antibody recognises lymphotoxin-beta receptor (LT beta R), a member of the tumournecrosis factor family. LT beta R is primarily expressed on stromal cells and fibroblasts andat lower levels on myeloid cell lines. Clone 5G11b specifically recognises surface expressedLT beta R. The clone is reported to be agonistic with respect to NF KappaB activation, MIP-2induction and IL-6 release (2). Species: Mouse. Others not tested. Add. Information: The Fc region of monoclonal antibodies may bind non-specifically to cells expressing lowaffinity fc receptors.
