Description
Glycation is the post-translational modification of proteins, linking a reducing sugar to anamino group on a protein. AGEs are thought to be involved in structural and functionalalterations of proteins observed in aging and diabetes. Increases in pentosidine levels areassociated with aging, diabetes, cataracts, renal diseases, chronic rheumatoid arthritis, photaged skin and Alzheimers disease. Carboxymethyllysine is involved in uracemia.

Specificity
This antibody recognizes a variety of advanced glycated end product (AGE) epitopes. AGEs recognized by this antibody include Carboxymethyllysine and Pentosidine. Species: Human. Others not tested. Add. Information: Antiserum Preparation: Antisera to Advanced Glycated End products were raised byrepeated immunisations of Goats with highly purified antigen.
