Description
14-3-3 proteins form homo- and heterodimers that can interact with a variety of cellularproteins that are typically phosphorylated on serine or threonine residues. 14-3-3 proteinsregulate cellular processes such as trafficking, cell-cycle regulatory pathways and signaltransduction. Brain tissue contains the highest concentration of 14-3-3 proteins and theproteins have been found in the cerebral spinal fluid of patients with certainneurodegenerative disease such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease and scrapie. 14-3-3 proteinsmight also contribute to Alzheimers and Parkinsons diseases, MillerDieker syndrome andspinocerebellar ataxia type 1. 14-3-3 has also been implicated in cancer.
Specificity
This antibody recognises 14-3-3 protein, a highly conserved, ubiquitously expressedprotein family. Species: Rat. Others not tested.
Application Notes
Western Blot: 1: 1000, detects a band of approximately 29kDa in rat hippocampal lysate. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
