RIP2, known also as RICK and CARDIAK, is a novel kinase that regulates TNF and Fas induced-apoptosis and is involved in the generation of the pro-inflammatory cytokine IL-1beta. Over expression of RIP2 has been shown to induce apoptosis, and the activation of NF-Kappa-B and JNK. RIP2 is widely expressed in a range of human tissues.Synonyms: CARD-containing IL-1 beta ICE-kinase, CARDIAK, RICK, RIP-2, RIP-like-interacting CLARP kinase, RIP2, Receptor-interacting protein 2, Receptor-interacting serine/threonine-protein kinase 2
