Description
Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis andsome have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. Kallikrein 1 releasesthe vasoactive peptide, Lys-bradykinin, from low molecular weight kininogen. Low renalsynthesis and urinary excretion of tissue kallikrein have been linked to hypertension inanimals and humans and the kallikrein-kinin system may be involved in the developmentor progression of cardiovascular disease.

Specificity
Minimal reactivity with other human serum proteins. Does not exhibit inhibitory effects against Human Kallikrein. Species: Human. Others not tested.

Application Notes
ELISA: In a simple indirect ELISA, using 400 ng of Kallikrein BP572 coated per well, the 50%binding was observed at an antibody dilution of 1/700. Under the same conditions, theend point titre was observed at an antibody dilution of 1/50K. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
