Specificity
|
Recognizes human serpentine chemokine-like receptor 1 (CMKLR1), a novel chemoattractant receptor, which is also referred to Chem23 or DEZ. CMKLR1 is expressed on plasmacytoid dendritic cells (pDC) in blood but is not expressed on myeloid dendritic cells, lymphocytes, monocytes or granulocytes. Studies show that CMKLR1 is also expressed on dendritic cells, which have been generated in vitro from monocytes. The sole ligand for CMKLR1 is chemerin, a chemoattractant that exists at the mRNA level in a wide range of tissues, and as an inactive proform in serum and plasma. Studies suggest that chemerin, in plasma, is converted into a potent pDC attractant following blood coagulation and may be a process by which pDC's are recruited to sites of bleeding and tissue damage
