Immunogen: Reference E. coli strain HM 1706 was grown on Minca agar in Roux flasks. Cells were harvested in phosphate buffer and the fimbrae were detached from the bacteria by heat shock. The fimbrae were further purified by centrifugation followed by ammonium sulphate precipitation. The minimal antigen titre was determined by indirect ELISA using onoclonal antibody specific for (F41 (IM18).
