Additional Information

Alternative name alpha-Tubulin
Immunogen Microtubules from chicken embryo brain. Purification Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Format Affinity-purified
Isotype IgG1  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone Tub-1
Description Alpha-tubulin (b-alpha-1) mRNA is expressed only in brain with a molecular weight of about 55,000. The 3-prime UTR of b-alpha-1 is more than 80% homologous to the UTR of the rat brain alpha-tubulin gene, IL-alpha-T1. B-alpha-1 encodes a predicted 451-amino acid protein that is 100% identical to the rat homolog and differs by only 2 and 3 amino acids from the pig and chicken homologs, respectively.
Specificity Human, rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins.

Application Details

Application Notes Western blotting: At 2µg/ml with the appropriate system to detect a-tubulin in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Sections): At 1-2µg/ml to detect a-tubulin in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end user.
Buffer Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2mg BSA and 0.2mg NaN3 as preservative.
Storage At -20°C for one year. After reconstitution, at 4°C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20°C for longer time. Reconstitution: 1.2% sodium acetate or neutral PBS. If 1ml of PBS is used, the antibody concentration will be 100µg/ml.
