Description: Ueyama et al. (1990) assigned the ACTSA gene to chromosome 10 by Southern blot analysis of DNAs from 18 rodent-human somatic cell hybrids. Regional mapping by in situ hybridization localized the gene to 10q22-q24.Assignment of the vascular smooth muscle actin gene ACTSA to human chromosome .Smooth muscle alpha-actin gene requires two E-boxes for proper expression in vivo and is a target of class I basic helix-loop-helix proteins.

Specificity: Human, mouse, rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins.

Application Details

Application Notes: Western blotting: At 2 µg/ml with the appropriate system to detect a-SMA in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Sections): At µg/ml to detect a-SMA in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Immunohistochemistry (F): At 0.3-1.2 µg/ml to detect a-SMA in formalin or acetone fixed tissues. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end user.

Purification: Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.

Buffer: Lyophilized from 1.2 % sodium acetate, with 2mg BSA and 0.2mg NaN3 as preservative.

Storage: At -20°C for one year. After reconstitution, at 4°C for three month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20°C for longer time. Reconstitution: 1.2% sodium acetate or neutral PBS. If 1ml of PBS is used, the antibody concentration will be 100µg/ml.
