Additional Information

Alternative name Tau
Immunogen Bovine microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs). Purification Purified by the goat anti-mouse IgG affinity chromatography.
Format Affinity-purified
Isotype IgG1  (Matching secondary antibodies)
Clone TAU-93
Description The microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) coassemble with tubulin into microtubules in vitro. Microtubule-associated protein tau appears to be enriched in axons. Tau are composed of 352 to 441 amino acids. The isoforms differ from each other by the presence or absence of 29-amino acid or 58-amino acid inserts located in the N terminus and a 31-amino repeat located in the C terminus. tau is important in establishing and maintaining neuronal morphology and is a major component of the neurofibrillary tangles (NFTs) characteristic of Alzheimer's brain. Microtubule-associated protein tau (MTBT1) is mapped to chromosome 17q21
Specificity Human, mouse, rat. No cross reactivity with other proteins.

Application Details

Application Notes Western blotting: At 0.5-1µg/ml with the appropriate system to detect Tau in cells and tissues. Immunohistochemistry (Paraffin-embedded Sections): At 1-2µg/ml to detect Tau in formalin fixed and paraffin embedded tissues. Other applications have not been tested. Optimal dilutions should be determined by end user.
Buffer Lyophilized from 1.2% sodium acetate, with 2mg BSA and 0.2mg NaN3 as preservative.
Storage At -20°C for one year. After reconstitution, at 4°C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20°C for longer time. Reconstitution: 1.2% sodium acetate or neutral PBS. If 1ml of PBS is used, the antibody concentration will be 100µg/ml.
Research Area Neurology, Cytoskeleton, Alzheimer's Disease
Restrictions For Research Use only
