Immunogen A synthetic peptide from the internal region of human coiled-coil myosin-like BCL2-interacting protein (Beclin-1, BECN1, ATG6) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein has been used as the antigen. The peptide is homologous in rat and mouse.

Background Autophagy is the process by which endogenous proteins and damaged organelles are destroyed intracellularly.autophagy is postulated to be essential for cell homeostasis and cell remodeling during differentiation, metamorphosis, non-apoptotic cell death, and aging. Reduced levels ofautophagy have been described in some malignant tumors, and a role forautophagy in controlling the unregulated cell growth linked to cancer has been proposed. It may play a role in antiviral host defense. Protects against infection by a neurovirulent strain of Sindbis virus. May play a role inautophagy.
Subcellular location: Cytoplasm. Golgi apparatus membrane, Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Expressed in dendrites and cell bodies of cerebellar Purkinje cells

Pathways
Application Notes Use at a dilution of 1 : 400 to 1 : 2000.
The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user.

Reconstitution Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

Storage Comment Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
