Additional Information

UniProt Q14457
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from human coiled-coil myosin-like BCL2-interacting protein (Beclin-1, BECN1, GT197, ATG6, VPS30) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein has been used as the immunogen. The antigen is homologous in rat and mouse.
Format Lyophilized
Isotype IgG
Description Autophagy is the process by which endogenous proteins and damaged organelles are destroyed intracellularly.autophagy is postulated to be essential for cell homeostasis and cell remodeling during differentiation, metamorphosis, non-apoptotic cell death, and aging. Reduced levels ofautophagy have been described in some malignant tumors, and a role forautophagy in controlling the unregulated cell growth linked to cancer has been proposed. It may play a role in antiviral host defense. Protects against infection by a neurovirulent strain of Sindbis virus. May play a role inautophagy. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm. Golgi apparatus membrane; Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Expressed in dendrites and cell bodies of cerebellar Purkinje cells TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Ubiquitous Also known as: Beclin-1, BECN1, GT197, ATG6, VPS30, beclin1.
Specificity Appears to be specific for Beclin-1.

Application Details

Application Notes IHC, WB. Use at a concentration of 10-50 µg/ml. The optimal working concentration should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.
