Additional Information
| Alternative name | Contactin-4 (Contactin 4, BIG-2, CNTN4A) |
| UniProt | Q8IWV2 |
| Immunogen | A synthetic peptide as a part of human contactin-4 (AXCAM, contactin 4, BIG-2, SCA16, CNTN4A) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen. |
| Format | Lyophilized |
| Description | The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily. It is a glycosylphosphatidylinositol (GPI)-anchored neuronal membrane protein that functions as a cell adhesion molecule. It may play a role in the formation of axon connections in the developing nervous system. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined. FUNCTION:Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Has some neurite outgrowth-promoting activity. May be involved in synaptogenesis. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cell membrane; Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor. Secreted. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Mainly expressed in brain. Highly expressed in cerebellum and weakly expressed in corpus callosum, caudate nucleus, amygdala and spinal cord. Also expressed in testis, pancreas, thyroid, uterus, small intestine and kidney. Not expressed in skeletal muscle. Isoform 2 is weakly expressed in cerebral cortex. Also known as: Brain-derived immunoglobulin superfamily protein 2, AXCAM,Contactin 4, BIG-2, SCA16, CNTN4A, MGC33615. |
| Specificity | Appears to be specific for contactin-4. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | IHC, WB. A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 2000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. |
| Purity | whole serum |
| Storage | Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
