Additional Information

Alternative name Excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1, GLAST, GLAST1) (c-terminal region)
Swiss-Prot P56564
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from c-terminal region of mouse Excitatory amino acid transporter 1 (EAAT1, GLAST, GLAST1) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen. The antigen is homologous in rat.
Format Lyophilized
Description FUNCTION: Transports L-glutamate and also L- and D-aspartate. Essential for terminating the postsynaptic action of glutamate by rapidly removing released glutamate from the synaptic cleft. Acts as a symport by cotransporting sodium. Defects in SLC1A3 are the cause of episodic ataxia type 6 (EA6). EA6 is characterized by episodic ataxia, seizures, migraine and alternating hemiplegia. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Highly expressed in cerebellum, but also found in frontal cortex, hippocampus and basal ganglia. Also known as: Sodium-dependent glutamate/aspartate transporter 1, GLAST-1, Solute carrier family 1 member 3, SLC1A3, EAAT1, GLAST, GLAST1.
Specificity Appears to be specific for EAAT1.

Application Details

Application Notes IHC, WB. A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 2000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.
Purity whole serum
Storage Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
Restrictions For Research Use only
