Immunogen A synthetic peptide from n-terminal of human Hepcidin (HAMP) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein has been used as the immunogen.
Specificity Appears to be specific for Hepcidin.
Purity whole serum
Alternative Name Hepcidin (HAMP)
Background Function: Seems to act as a signaling molecule involved in the maintenance of iron homeostasis. Seems to be required in conjunction with HFE to regulate both intestinal iron absorption and iron storage in macrophages. Has strong antimicrobial activity against E.coli ML35P N.cinerea and weaker against S.epidermidis, S.aureus and group b streptococcus bacteria. Active against the fungus C.albicans. No activity against P.aeruginosa.
Subcellular location: Secreted.
Tissue specificity: Highest expression in liver and to a lesser extent in heart and brain. Low levels in lung, tonsils, salivary gland, trachea, prostate gland, adrenal gland and thyroid gland. Secreted into the urine. Also known as: Hepcidin, Liver-expressed antimicrobial peptide, LEAP-1, Putative liver tumor regressor, HAMP, HEPC, LEAP1.
UniProt P81172
Application Notes IHC, WB. Use at a dilution of 1:100 to 1: 2000. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.

Reconstitute in 100 µl of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material. Expiry Date: 12 months after reconstitution Transportation: This item will be shipped to you at ambient temperature in a lyophilised form.
