Additional Information
| Alternative name | Mtap2 (Microtubule-associated protein 2, MAP-2, MAP 2, MAP2, MAP2R) |
| UniProt | P15146 |
| Immunogen | A synthetic peptide as a part of rat, mouse Mtap2 (Microtubule-associated protein 2, MAP-2, MAP 2, MAP2, MAP2R) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen. |
| Format | Lyophilized |
| Isotype | IgG |
| Description | Regulates and organizes microtubules; may serve as a scaffolding protein for neuromodulatory activities. FUNCTION: The exact function of MAP2 is unknown but MAPs may stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Isoform MAP2C is expressed during embryonic brain development and until postanatal day 10. Isoform MAP2B is expressed throughout brain development. Also known as: Microtubule-associated protein 2, MAP 2, MAP-2, MAP2R. |
| Specificity | Appears to be specific for MAP-2. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | IHC, WB. A concentration of 10-50 µg/ml is recommended. The optimal concentration should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications. |
| Purity | IgG |
| Purification | The antibody is affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using epitope-specific immunogen. |
| Storage | Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
