Additional Information
| Alternative name | Synaptotagmin 2 (Synaptotagmin II, SytII, SYT2, Synaptotagmin-2) (n-terminal) |
| Swiss-Prot | Q8N9I0 |
| Immunogen | A synthetic peptide from the n-terminal region of human Synaptotagmin-2 (Synaptotagmin II, SytII, SYT2) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen. The antigen is homologous in rat and mouse. |
| Format | Lyophilized |
| Description | Synaptotagmins, like SYT2, are integral membrane proteins of synaptic vesicles thought to serve as Ca(2+) sensors in the process of vesicular trafficking and exocytosis. FUNCTION: May have a regulatory role in the membrane interactions during trafficking of synaptic vesicles at the active zone of the synapse. It binds acidic phospholipids with a specificity that requires the presence of both an acidic head group and a diacyl backbone. COFACTOR: Binds 3 calcium ions per subunit. The ions are bound to the C2 domains. SUBUNIT: Homotetramer. Interacts with stonin 2. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, synaptic vesicle. Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, chromaffin granule. Note: Synaptic vesicles and chromaffin granules. Also known as: Synaptotagmin II, SytII, SYT2. |
| Specificity | Appears to be specific for SYTII. |
Application Details
| Application Notes | IHC, WB. A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 2000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications. |
| Purity | whole serum |
| Storage | Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles. |
