Additional Information

Alternative name TRPM8 (4th cytoplasmic loop)
Swiss-Prot Q8R455
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from the 4th cytoplasmic loop of rat TRPM8, conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen.
Format Lyophilized
Description FUNCTION: Receptor-activated non-selective cation channel involved in detection of sensations such as coolness, by being activated by cold temperature below 25 degrees Celsius. Activated by icilin, eucalyptol, menthol, cold and modulation of intracellular pH. Involved in menthol sensation. Permeable for monovalent cations sodium, potassium, and cesium and divalent cation calcium. Temperature sensing is tightly linked to voltage-dependent gating. Activated upon depolarization, changes in temperature resulting in graded shifts of its voltage-dependent activation curves. The chemical agonists menthol functions as a gating modifier, shifting activation curves towards physiological membrane potentials. Temperature sensitivity arises from a tenfold difference in the activation energies associated with voltage-dependent opening and closing. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein (Probable). TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in dorsal root and trigeminal ganglia. Specifically expressed in a subset of sensory neurons, including cold-sensitive neurons in trigeminal neurons. SIMILARITY: Belongs to the transient receptor family, LTrpC subfamily. Also known as: Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily M member 8, Cold menthol receptor 1, Trpm8, Trpm8 transient receptor potential cation channel, subfamily M, member 8, CMR1.
Specificity Appears to be specific for TRPM8.

Application Details

Application Notes IHC, WB. A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 2000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.
Purity whole serum
Storage Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
