Background This gene encodes an ion channel that is activated by high temperatures above 52 degrees Celsius. The protein may be involved in transduction of high-temperature heat responses in sensory ganglia. It is thought that in other tissues the channel may be activated by stimuli other than heat.
Function: Calcium-permeable, non-selective cation channel with an outward rectification. Seems to be regulated, at least in part, by IGF-I, PDGF and neuropeptide head activator. May transduce physical stimuli in mast cells. Activated by temperatures higher than 52 degrees Celsius, is not activated by vanilloids and acidic pH.
Subcellular location: Cell membrane, Multi-pass membrane protein. Cytoplasm. Melanosome. Note: Translocates from the cytoplasm to the plasma membrane upon ligand stimulation. Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV. Also known as: Transient receptor potential cation channel subfamily V member 2, TrpV2, osm-9-like TRP channel 2, OTRPC2, vanilloid receptor-like protein, VRL, VRL1, VRL-1, OTRPC2, MGC12549.
Application Notes A dilution of 1 : 300 to 1 : 2000 is recommended.
The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user.
Not yet tested in other applications.

Reconstitution Reconstitute in 100 µL of sterile water. Centrifuge to remove any insoluble material.
Handling Advice Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.

Storage Comment Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
