Additional Information

Alternative name VGluT2 (VGLU2, Vesicular glutamate transporter 2) (n-terminal region)
Swiss-Prot Q9JI12
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from the n-terminal part of rat, mouse VGluT2 (VGLU2, Slc17a6, Dnpi, Vesicular glutamate transporter 2) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the immunogen.
Format Lyophilized
Description FUNCTION: Mediates the uptake of glutamate into synaptic vesicles at presynaptic nerve terminals of excitatory neural cells. May also mediate the transport of inorganic phosphate. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Cytoplasmic vesicle, secretory vesicle, synaptic vesicle membrane. Membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction, synapse, synaptosome. TISSUE SPECIFICITY: Expressed in brain. Expressed in hippocampal neurons (at protein level). DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE: Expressed in brain throughout development. Transiently expressed in hippocampal neurons during the first week after birth, with expression decreasing thereafter. MISCELLANEOUS: Mice lacking this protein exhibit an elevated rate of perinatal lethality. Surviving animals display a strong reduction in evoked glutamergic responses in thalamic neurons. Reduction of protein level in homozygous and heterozygous knockouts leads to a graded reduction in the amplitude of the postsynaptic response to single vesicle fusion in thalamic neurons, consistent with a role for this protein in determining quantal size. Also known as: Vesicular glutamate transporter 2, VGlU2, Solute carrier family 17 member 6, Differentiation-associated Na(+)-dependent inorganic phosphate cotransporter, Differentiation-associated BNPI, Slc17a6, Dnpi.
Specificity Appears to be specific for VGLUT2.

Application Details

Application Notes IHC, WB. A dilution of 1: 300 to 1: 2000 is recommended. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.
Purity whole serum
Storage Maintain the lyophilised/reconstituted antibodies frozen at -20°C for long term storage and refrigerated at 2-8°C for a shorter term. When reconstituting, glycerol (1:1) may be added for an additional stability. Avoid freeze and thaw cycles.
