| Description | The scaffolding protein CAV1 is the main component of the caveolae plasma membranesfound in most cell types. This protein links integrin subunits to the tyrosine kinase FYN, aninitiating step in coupling integrins to the Ras-ERK pathway and promoting cell cycleprogression. The CAV1 gene is a tumor suppressor gene candidate and a negative regulatorof the Ras-p42/44 MAP kinase cascade. |
