Description
Cathepsin D is synthesized as a 54kDa precursor which is proteolytically processed to anintermediate 48kDa single chain which matures into more stable 34kDa and 14kDa twochain form. It is an estrogen-regulated lysosomal protease that has been suggested tofacilitate cancer cell migration and invasion by digesting the basement membrane, extracellular matrix, and xonnective tissue. Because of its mitogenic and proteolyticactivities, it has been implicated as a prognostic marker in many tumor types. Cathepsin Dis expressed in epithelial cells as well as in macrophages.

Application Notes
Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections: 1/50 for 10 min at RT, Staining offormalin-fixed tissues requires boiling tissue sections in 10mM Citrate buffer, pH 6.0 for 10min followed by cooling at RT for 20 min. Positive Control: Breast carcinomaOther applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user.
