Additional Information
| Characteristics | Synonyms: CAV1 |
| Alternative name | Caveolin-1 (N-term) |
| Gene ID | 857 |
| Swiss-Prot | Q03135 |
| Immunogen | A synthetic peptide from N-terminal of human caveolin-1 |
| Description | Caveolae (also known as plasmalemmal vesicles) are 50-100 nm flask-shaped membranesthat represent a subcompartment of the plasma membrane. On the basis of morphologicalstudies, caveolae have been implicated to function in the transcytosis of variousmacromolecules (including LDL( across capillary endothelial cells, uptake of smallmolecules via potocytosis and the compartmentalization of certain signaling moleculesincluding G protein-coupled receptors. Three proteins, caveolin-1, caveolin-2 andcaveolin-3 have been identified as principle components of caveolae. |
| Specificity | This antibody detects Caveolin-1 (N-term). Species: Human. Others not tested. Add. Information: Molecular weight: 22kDaCellular localisation: Cytoplasmic and cell membrane |
Application Details
| Application Notes | Immunohistochemistry on paraffin sections (1: 100). Positive control: A431 and NIH/3T3 cells. Lung carcinoma. Other applications not tested. Optimal dilutions are dependent on conditions and should be determined by the user. |
