Additional Information

Characteristics Synonyms: CAV1
Alternative name Caveolin-1 (N-term)
Gene ID 857
Swiss-Prot Q03135
Immunogen A synthetic peptide from N-terminal of human caveolin-1
Description Caveolae (also known as plasmalemmal vesicles) are 50-100 nm flask-shaped membranesthat represent a subcompartment of the plasma membrane. On the basis of morphologicalstudies, caveolae have been implicated to function in the transcytosis of variousmacromolecules (including LDL( across capillary endothelial cells, uptake of smallmolecules via potocytosis and the compartmentalization of certain signaling moleculesincluding G protein-coupled receptors. Three proteins, caveolin-1, caveolin-2 andcaveolin-3 have been identified as principle components of caveolae.
Specificity This antibody detects Caveolin-1 (N-term). Species: Human. Others not tested. Add. Information: Molecular weight: 22kDaCellular localisation: Cytoplasmic and cell membrane
